A collection of 13 mid‑century glass objects by Hanns Model (1908–1983) from Stuttgart, Germany, dating to 1950–1960, including a vase 16 cm high and 8 cm in diameter, two bowls 8 cm high and 11 cm in diameter, a glass 7.5 cm high and 9 cm in diameter, three glasses 6 cm high and 4.5 cm in diameter, a vase 6.5 cm high and 6 cm in diameter, and a small dish 2 cm high and 5.5 cm in diameter, with one glass bearing a hairline crack and one of the two bowls with a small chip, the remainder in very good condition.
Description from the seller
Hanns Model (1908 - 1983) was a glass artist from Stuttgart with a completely unique style. He used his tool—the grinding wheel—to create everyday objects such as drinking glasses, bowls and vases.
In particular, the use of the matte grinding technique, in which the surfaces of the glass object remain unpolished – i.e. ‘rough’ – became a hallmark of his work. His works can be found, for example, in the Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Cologne, the Museum of Design in Zurich and the Frauenau Glasmuseum.
This collection of 13 objects was once purchased by a Dutch couple, probably in the 1950s. The signed business card is the evidence.
They consist of:
Vase 16 cm high x 8 cm diameter
2 x Bowl 8 cm high x 11 cm diameter
1 x Glass 7.5 cm high x 9 cm diameter
3 x Glass 6 cm high x 4.5 cm diameter
Vase 6.5 cm high x 6 cm diameter
Small dish 2 cm high x 5.5 cm diameter
One of the glasses has a small hairline crack. One of the two bowls has a small chip. Both damages are visible in the respective photos. The rest of the objects are mint condition.
