Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Large circular ceramic coupe by CERART Monaco, dating from 1950–1960, with a turquoise volcanic glaze, diameter 33.2 cm and height 6.2 cm, signed CERART Monaco and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Grand ceramic coupe from Cerart Monaco Manufacture, Principality of Monaco.
FORM
Circular cup with a slightly raised edge and irregular organic lip, resting on a ring foot. Decorative presentation format.
ENAMEL
Coated with turquoise volcanic enamel — technique known as "bubbled enamel": the glaze boils during firing and forms micro-craters, creating a granular and partially translucent surface with a mineral appearance. The enamel lets light pass through in places, revealing variations in internal density. A remarkable visual and tactile effect, reminiscent of a dried coral bark or a volcanic rock. This monochrome volcanic finish is atypical in Cerart production, usually featuring figurative decor (fish, flowers, horses).
MANUFACTURE
Cerart Monaco (Monaco Porcelain Manufacture), a major player in decorative ceramics along the Côte d’Azur from the 1940s-1960s, continuing the Mediterranean ceramic movement.
SIGNATURE
Brush signature 'cerart monaco' under the base, on an unglazed white background.
DIMENSIONS
Diameter: 33.2 cm. Height: 6.2 cm.
CONDITION
Very good condition. No chips, no cracks. A few micro-points inherent to the volcanic enamel technique, not defects but characteristics of the firing process.
SHIPPING
Careful packaging in double crate with full foam padding. Insured tracking cover for the full value of the piece.
