Italian-made matrimonial bedspread in ivory ecru linen with Cantù lace, dating to 1930–1940, size 260 by 270 cm and weight 1 kg, with original packaging and authenticity tags.
Description from the seller
This is a Cantù lace bedspread (tombolo lace), an excellence of craftsmanship, famous worldwide for its complexity and refinement.
From the photos it is evident that the item is kept with its original packaging and authenticity tags ("Pizzo Cantù - Lavorazione a mano"), which greatly increases its value.
Double bed cover in pure linen (or high-quality linen blend) in ivory/ecru color.
The decoration is realized with the Cantù tombolo lace technique. The characteristic "stitches" are clearly recognizable, such as the punto fusteggio and the ground nets that create plays of translucency.
The central motif is a large radial Baroque rose window, rich in volutes and stylized floral motifs. The decoration is repeated to a lesser extent at the corners and on the edges (ruffles), framing the bed with elegance.
The lace is not simply applied, but "cast" into the fabric through an engraving/-cutting technique.
Border (Galoppa): The perimeter is finished with a high lace trim.
It is a stockroom item never used (NOS - New Old Stock), with original ironing creases and vintage packaging
