refined travel desk from the mid-19th century, presumably in ebony and exquisite flame-figured walnut burl. The lid is adorned with a superb central star inlay made by hand with a diligenced technique (certosina) and light wood fillets. The interior preserves the original slanted writing surface in green cloth, pen compartments, and double-foldout document compartments. Solid construction with original brass hinges and lock (no key). The piece features a splendid authentic "found" patina with slight signs of wear that certify its age.
