Refined Qing Dynasty-era Chinese box, entirely hand-carved from precious wood, with extraordinary richness of detail. The lid features a complex bas-relief landscape scene with figures, bridges, pagodas, trees, and characters engaged in daily activities, crafted with superb craftsmanship.

The sides of the box are also finely decorated with continuous scenes of rural life and Oriental landscapes, characterized by depth of perspective and meticulous naturalistic detail. The whole testifies to the high quality of traditional Chinese carving.

Interior lined with ivory-colored silk/satin fabric, originally intended to hold jewelry, documents, or precious objects. Shaped base and hinged lid.

Object of great decorative and collectible charm, ideal for collectors of Asian art and Oriental antiques.
