Pair of two-piece Louis XV oak corner cabinets in antique style, dating to the 20th century from France, in brown chêne with measurements 219 cm high, 100 cm wide and 46 cm deep, featuring upper glazed doors and lower panelled doors, lockable and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Exceptional and rare pair of two-piece corner cupboards (two-part stacked angle furniture) in Louis XV style.
Designed in solid oak of very fine cabinetmaking quality, these two pieces form a perfect pendant, ideal for symmetrically furnishing the corners of a dining room or living room.
Top part (The tall sideboard / corner display cabinet)
Facade: Each corner cupboard opens with a curved glass door shaped like a gendarme’s hat on its upper part, perfectly following the line of the molded cornice.
Interior: The glazed space offers three display levels thanks to sturdy oak angled shelves, ideal for showcasing collectibles, crystals, or tableware.
Sculptures: The upper crosspiece under the cornice is richly carved with vegetal friezes and baroque relief scrolls.
Lower part (The small corner sideboard)
Drawer: In belt, each piece features a large curved corner drawer, adorned with delicate foliate carvings and equipped with an original double drop handle in chased bronze.
Full door: The lower section opens with a full door whose central panel is richly carved in bas-relief with a hanging floral medallion and stylized cartouches, in perfect harmony with the rest of the dining room set.
Pedestals and Features
The lower crosspiece is serpentine in shape and centered by an intricately pierced carved shell.
Each piece rests at the front on curved feet (stags’ feet) ending in a rolled volute.
Logistics: The upper parts detach from the lower parts (two-piece furniture), greatly facilitating transport and installation. Very good overall condition, sound wood and superb patina.
