French Art Deco chandelier by Georges Leleu, circa 1932, in nickel-plated bronze and brass with opalescent glass, 63 cm high and 73 cm wide, seven thick glass shades signed 'G. Leleu', in good used condition with light aging and in working order.
Description from the seller
GEORGES LÉLEU
Very rare, large opalescent chandelier in the French Art Deco style, made by the famous Parisian company Georges Leleu in nickel-plated bronze or solid brass and clear frosted pressed glass. The chandelier was manufactured around 1932 and appears on Leleu’s catalog posters from the same year.
Leleu founded his company at the turn of the century. It closed its doors at the end of the 1930s.
This opalescent, rare and original version of the chandelier was at the time installed in a French bourgeois family home.
The two glass decorations on the axis are opalescent glass (color nuances) just like the large and superb central lower bowl.
The chandelier measures 63 cm high and 73 cm wide. It is in very good condition and would require cleaning for anyone who would like to restore its “lustre of yesteryear.” It has deliberately been left in its original state. A slight wear is noticeable due to its great age, nearly 100 years!
The seven thick glass shades are signed 'G Leleu' on the inside of the bowls. The central bowl measures 25 cm in diameter. The six satellite shades measure 22 cm in diameter. A tiny chip is visible on the inner edge of one bowl (see photo). Invisible when positioned on the chandelier.
A magnificent and very rare piece not to be missed
Secure packaging guaranteed
