Art Deco style wooden wall light in oak, dating from the 1930s to the 1950s, with a stepped wall bracket and a beaded wooden shade.
Description from the seller
Art Deco Style Wooden Wall Light with Beaded Wooden Shade.
Decorative Art Deco style wall light, estimated 1930 - 1950, with a stepped wooden wall bracket and an unusual wooden lampshade with black bead fringe.
The lamp has a striking architectural design. The wall mount and projecting arm are built up from stepped wooden elements, giving the piece a strong geometric profile. This stepped construction clearly refers to Art Deco and Amsterdam School design language, where rhythm, shadow and profile were characteristic features.
The shade is particularly charming: made from thin wooden panels, pierced with small and larger round openings, and finished at the lower edge with strings of black beads. When lit, the perforated shade creates small points of light, while the bead fringe gives the lamp a theatrical, cabaret-like character. It is a decorative piece with a warm, nostalgic presence, somewhere between interwar inspiration and mid-century.
The lamp is wall-mounted and fitted with an electrical cord. It has a wonderful sculptural quality even when not lit, making it suitable for a hallway, bedroom, reading corner or atmospheric interior setting.
Condition
Decorative and unrestored condition. The lamp shows signs of age and use, including wear to the wood, small marks, patina and irregularities to the shade and fringe. The electrical wiring appears older and has not been restored but is working. Rewiring with a black wire is recommended.
Period: estimated c. 1950
Style: Art Deco style / Amsterdam School inspired
Material: wood, bead fringe, electrical fitting
Object type: wall light / sconce
Condition: unrestored decorative condition
