Horseman - Bronze - Djenné - Mali - 31.5 cm - 3 kg.

An ancient Soninke horseman from the Djenné region in Mali.
Weighing more than 3 kilograms, it depicts a masculine figure richly decorated with necklaces and bracelets, wearing a helmet. It is certainly a warrior with his shield, dagger and quiver.
The horse also features highly decorative tack.
Face finely rendered and prognathic, characteristic of the region.
The horsemen are associated with elegance and wealth. They symbolize political and military power, legal authority, and mysticism.
The whole piece is covered with a dark patina of age.
Very good condition.

Ancien cavalier Soninké provenant de la région de Djenné au Mali.
Pesant plus de 3 kilogrammes, il montre un personnage masculin richement décoré de colliers et bracelets, coiffé d'un casque. Il s'agit certainement d'un guerrier avec son bouclier, son poignard et son carquois.
Le cheval aussi présente un harnachement très décoratif.
Visage finement représenté et prognathe, caractéristique de la région.
Les cavaliers sont associés l'élégance et la richesse. Ils représentent le pouvoir politique et militaire, légal et mystique.
L'ensemble est couvert d'une patine sombre d'ancienneté.
