Description from the seller
Miniature sword-shaped letter opener – Sterling Silver 925 – United States – Art Nouveau / 1920s–1930s
Elegant miniature letter opener made of solid Sterling 925 silver, designed in the form of a ceremonial sword with a richly decorated handle and refined ornamental motifs.
The piece stands out for its sleek silhouette and the meticulous relief decoration on the handle and guard, inspired by medieval forms reinterpreted under the decorative aesthetic of the early 20th century. The design blends functionality and elegance, making it an attractive desk accessory and collectible.
It bears the inscription STERLING, indicating sterling silver 92.5% purity, a marking widely used in North American production. In style and execution, it can be attributed to an American manufacture from the 1920s–1930s, transitional between late Art Nouveau and the early decorative languages of Art Deco.
