19th‑century Chinese export porcelain plate from the Qing Dynasty in the Canton Medallion style, measuring 24.5 cm in diameter and 2.5 cm high, decorated with green, iron‑red and gilt enamels and featuring birds, flowers and palace scenes, in good condition with minor wear to gilt and enamels and typical back‑glaze iron spots.
Description from the seller
A fascinating 19th-century Chinese export porcelain plate (Qing Dynasty), richly decorated in the traditional Canton "Medallion" style, with a beautiful predominance of green, iron-red, and gilt enamels.
The sophisticated layout features radial gold-bordered reserves (panels) alternating between lively palace court scenes with figures in pavilions and delicate naturalistic depictions of "birds and flowers," showcasing trees, foliage, and exotic birds. The central circular medallion portrays a bird perched on a branch, surrounded by an intricate geometric diaper-pattern border. The outer rim is framed by a continuous band of stylized floral scrolls.
The reverse shows a wide, unglazed foot rim with natural iron spotting and kiln dust in the glaze, typical of 19th-century Canton porcelain manufacturing.
Material: Chinese Export Porcelain
Period: 19th Century (Qing Dynasty)
Style: Medallion / Famille Verte style (Canton)
Dimension: 24.5x2.5cm
Condition: In good overall antique condition. Shows expected wear to the gilt highlights and enamels due to age and handling. Normal manufacturing flaws, pitting, and iron spots in the paste (mostly on the back). No visible cracks, hairlines, or restorations. (Please inspect all photos carefully).
