Description from the seller

Bronze sculpture depicting a centaur known as "the young".
This work, originally dating from the first half of the 1700s, was paired with another sculpture, "the old".
In addition to being carved as if to stand together, since they seem to look at each other, the two figures were supposed to represent the human disposition toward love: the old man, with hands placed behind his back, looks backward, while the young man smiles and raises his arm in a gesture of swagger.
Subsequently replicated using the lost-wax casting technique, among the most notable reproductions are certainly those from the Chiurazzi Artistic Foundry.

The Centaurs, according to Greek mythology, were creatures half man and half horse, sons of Ixion and Nephele.
They were known for being incurable drunkards and lovers of pleasure.

Artwork reproduced from a mold of the original made at the end of the 20th century by a historic foundry in Naples.

Dimensions: 70.5×41×23 cm
Weight: 14.3 kg

Seller's Story

The Mineral Art Gallery offers minerals, fossils, shells and natural elements. Born in Italy in 2017, today she collaborates with international galleries and collectors, she is a direct importer of large minerals and naturalistic collectible elements; deals with the processing to insert them inside the living space. A section of the gallery was dedicated to the Wunderkammer, "chamber of wonders or cabinet of curiosities" in which Mirabilia elements are presented: naturalia and italiania, a union between "the present is the past". All lots are shipped via DHL Express and Fercam couriers, with insured parcel and tracking.
