Description from the seller
Art Deco Green Glass Lidded Trinket Pot, c. 1930s
A beautiful Art Deco lidded pot in vivid green pressed glass, with a strongly geometric form and an emerald - jewel like presence. The piece has a faceted rectangular body with angular sides, raised triangular decoration and deep moulded relief, catching the light in a wonderful way. In sunlight the glass becomes almost electric: emerald, lime and bottle green all at once, throwing bright reflections.
The way the top sits on the lower part of the pot is especially attractive, stepped details and a pointed finial give the object a stunning silhouette. It has that unmistakable 1930s dressing-table glamour - designed with real decorative theatre.
This type of glass pot would originally have been used as a vanity, powder, jewellery or trinket box. Today it works beautifully as a decorative object, a small jewellery box, or simply as a sharp green accent in an Art Deco or modern interior. Small in size, but wonderfully graphic.
The exact maker is unknown. Similar Art Deco green pressed glass vanity pieces are often found in Belgian, Czech, French and British production from the 1930s, including examples attributed to Verreries de Scailmont and other European glassworks.
Condition
Good vintage condition with light signs of age and use. Minor surface marks and small imperfections, as expected with pressed glass of this age.
