Description
An elegant and highly collectible pair of early 20th-century Art Nouveau porcelain vases designed by the celebrated Swedish-Finnish ceramic master Thure Öberg (1872–1935) for Arabia, Finland. Öberg, who served as Arabia's first artistic director, is renowned for pioneering high-quality artistic underglaze painting in the Nordics.
This beautiful matching set consists of two vases of graduating sizes, both featuring a striking, deep brown floral iris motif silhouette against a pristine white porcelain ground. The decoration is masterfully highlighted with fine hand-painted gold-leaf contours (gilding). A classic example of early Scandinavian ceramic finesse from the interwar period.
