Description from the seller
For sale—a fascinating and rare vintage box camera, the Eho Box, produced in Germany starting in 1931 by Emil Hofert. This model represents a piece of early photographic history, characterized by the classic vertical rectangular build clad in black faux leather with a distinctive front metal frame that delineates its design typical of the era. The device is equipped with a fixed central meniscus lens and a simple mechanical shutter operated by a lever. On the front, above the main lens, the two small reflex viewfinders dedicated to framing for vertical and horizontal shots are clearly visible. The top houses a practical leather carrying handle traversed by a metal supporting arch, as well as the metal lever for managing shutter speeds. The Eho Box camera used classic roll film and was designed to be extremely simple and accessible to everyone. The example shown in the photo displays a splendid patina of time, with signs of wear and oxidation on the metallic edges that enhance its historical charm and vintage authenticity. An ideal object for collectors of antique cameras and lovers of the history of technology, or as a decorative piece for shops or photography studios.
