Neoca 35-K Analogue camera

Manufactured by the Neoca Camera Co. in Tokyo, Japan during the mid-1950s, the Neoca 35-K is a wonderfully obscure and beautifully designed 35mm coupled rangefinder camera. Emerging from the golden post-war era of Japanese camera development, this model is highly distinctive due to its unique mechanical layout, notably its dual-finger film advance levers located on the front of the body. Rather than using a conventional top-plate wind lever, the photographer presses a vertical plunger lever downward on the front panel to advance the film and cock the shutter. Fitted with a highly capable Neokor lens, the Neoca 35-K represents an inventive, elegant branch of vintage Japanese rangefinder design that remains rare and highly attractive to curators of unusual mechanical workflows.

CONDITION REPORT

Cosmetic: Very good vintage cosmetic condition with typical minor signs of age and prior handling. The satin chrome plates are clean with only superficial surface micro-scuffs. The black textured leatherette wrap is fully intact and tightly bound around the main chassis contours, showing no severe peeling.

Optics: The Neokor 45mm f/3.5 lens elements show standard minor internal dust particles, free from obvious deep scratching. The viewfinder optics are completely legible, and the secondary internal rangefinder patch is visible for composition tracking.

Mechanics: The front-mounted mechanical plunger lever depresses and springs back smoothly to actuate the film sprocket system. The focus ring rotates manually, and the leaf shutter release fires cleanly across various manual speed thresholds.

Test status: This camera is being sold as a vintage collector's piece and has not been tested with film for absolute light-tightness, frame pacing, or darkroom development.
