Description from the seller
Ink and color on rise paper by Chinese painter Liu Wenxi (1933.-2019.).
This is a Chinese ink painting on rice paper depicting two musicians.
The work is executed in the style of traditional Chinese ink painting (Sumie), with an emphasis on drawing and expressiveness.
The musicians are depicted with trumpets, reminiscent of the works of modern Chinese artists such as Liu Wenxi who painted folk life.
The painting contains Chinese characters (calligraphy) and the artist's red seal at the top, which is common for authenticating Chinese art

Considered by many critics as the founder of the "Yellow Earth School" of painting, he served as President of Xi'an Academy of Fine Arts and Vice Chairman of the China Artists Association.
