Dutch silver lodereindoosje dating to circa 1845–1850, made in .835 silver with neoclassical engraving, dimensions 4.2 × 4.2 × 3.2 cm and a weight of 28 g, in good antique condition with minor wear.

Dutch silver lodering scent boxes / fragrance box, manufactured circa 1845–1850. This elegant miniature box is richly decorated with fine engraved and cast ornamentation in a neoclassical style, including foliate motifs, pearl borders and a central heart-shaped cartouche.
The box has a gracefully curved hinged lid and is fitted on both sides with small twisted ring handles. The refined detailing and artisanal silversmithing make this a particularly charming object from mid-19th century.
Lodering scent boxes were used for fragrant herb mixtures or perfume materials and formed beloved personal accessories in the 18th and 19th centuries. Today they are highly sought after by collectors of antique Dutch silver and curiosities.
