AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

This is a Mid-Palaeolithic Levallois-type core from which advanced flakes could be struck; the technique was revolutionary in flint knapping. Made from local flint. Originating from the plateau of Thebes. Very nice dark brown patina.
There are some recent, newer removals (flakes) made, visible by the color difference. These may date from a more recent period, but with the patina on the removals the traces are likely from the Neolithic. It is not uncommon for older tools to be reused in a completely different period.
Dimensions 98 x 70 mm
