Description from the seller
Beautiful Vintage Dutch Enamel Bread Tin in Exceptional Condition – 1930s/1950s
Offered is an iconic piece of Dutch kitchen history:
A very large, heavily enameled bread tin in a stunning, deep dark green color. This model, with its characteristic rounded corners and sturdy look, is a wonderful example of durable domestic design from the middle of the last century.
Exceptional and Fantastic Condition
What makes this specimen truly unique is its fantastic condition. Vintage enamel bread tins have often endured heavy use in the kitchen over the decades, typically resulting in large bare spots, heavy rust, and dents. This tin has, however, been treated with exceptional care. The enamel still shines beautifully and shows only minimal, superficial signs of aging that perfectly add to the authentic vintage character. The interior is strikingly clean and fresh.
Fully Functional Mechanism
Another big plus is the metal latch on the front. Whereas the locking mechanism on this type of antique tin is often slack, bent, or rusted after decades, the lock on this piece still functions admirably smoothly. The lid closes perfectly and securely, as if it left the factory yesterday. In the upper left corner of the lid remains the original fragment of the factory paper sticker (transfer), which further emphasizes the authenticity and untouched history of this object. An absolute eye-catcher for retro or country-style kitchens, and a rarity in this sublime condition!
