Description from the seller
Louis XVI Chest of Drawers – fine 18th century – probable Friulian origin
Elegant Louis XVI chest of drawers from the late 18th century, with probable Friulian provenance. The piece is made of walnut, with veneers on the fronts of the drawers and on the sides, typical of production in Northeastern Italy in the late 18th century.
The construction features five drawers with flush fronts: two upper ones of smaller size and three full-depth ones below. The mouths and locks are original, an element that confirms the authenticity of the furniture and its consistent front-facing conservation.
Over time the chest has undergone some modifications:
– very likely originally a fall-front piece, then transformed;
– the feet are not contemporaneous with the structure and are a later addition.
Condition: the piece is overall in good order; there are cracks on the top surface, while the sides are well preserved. Normal signs of wear compatible with the period.
Dimensions:
– Length: 116 cm
– Depth: 61 cm
– Height: 91 cm
Possibility of personal transport in Northern Italy, by agreement.
