Description from the seller

They are bidding on Hasselblad’s first camera!!!

Hasselblad Svenska Express - Falling Plate Box Camera

The camera was manufactured by Hugo Svensson & Co. in Gothenburg and distributed by Hasselblad. It is probably a high-quality copy of the Italian Murer Express. The Hasselblad name is engraved on the grip (see photo).

The camera is a box type, but designed as a "dry plate falling plate" camera. Primarily 9 x 12 cm plates could be used, but formats such as 6 x 9 cm or 10 x 15 cm were also possible. The camera accommodates 12 plates, which were moved via a special mechanism (see photos).

Usually it had a 125 mm fixed-focus lens. The aperture numbers are embossed on the front in the leather, 11, S, 14, 22, and 36. S means closed (stängd in Swedish).

The shutter speeds are indicated only with the numbers 1 to 6. Behind them are presumably the shutter speeds 1/5, 1/10, 1/25, 1/50, and 1/100, as one can read on the Internet. Firing was done with the small button on the left side. A kind of distance setting was possible with the pull-out knob above the lens. On the back there is a small plate counter. Next to the rangefinders there is also a spirit level (see photos). Further investigations could not be conducted due to lack of knowledge.

The camera has the following dimensions: height 18 cm, width 11.5 cm, depth 22.5 cm.

As the first Hasselblad camera, the offered camera has a very special collector’s value!

Condition:
The cosmetic condition of this camera, over 100 years old, can be described as good to very good. The lens and shutter could not be inspected due to lack of technical knowledge about this camera. The same applies to the falling plate system. The viewfinders are intact; the spirit levels as well.
The photos are an integral part of the camera description and its condition.
