Description from the seller
Rare artist’s book (artist’s book), numbered edition, 1989
Rare and early artist’s book by the British artist Aldous Eveleigh (born 1951), published in 1989 — the year the Berlin Wall fell, a turning point in the history of the city that is central to this work.
This book was compiled by the artist himself when he was working in Berlin in the late 1980s, and contains a series of originally altered city postcards. Eveleigh overpainted existing tourist Berlin postcards, a technique he described as “dubbed photographs”: a dialogue between photographic reality and painterly intervention.
