Galleon-shaped boat sculpture in .800 silver, dating to c. 1930–1940, with a total weight of 400 g (300 g silver) mounted on a solid wood base, signed on the base ‘B.H. Richard’, of Italian origin and in good condition with minor wear to ropes and sails.
Description from the seller
Magnificent historic silver galleon model – signed B.H. Richard – Italy, 20th century
Impressive miniature sculpture representing a classic European galleon, made of silver with a high level of detail and mounted on an elegant wooden base.
This type of vessel, the galleon, was one of the fundamental pillars of European maritime expansion between the 16th and 18th centuries. Used for both trade and exploration and defense, the galleon symbolizes the era of great discoveries and the naval power of empires such as Spain and other Mediterranean kingdoms.
The piece captures with great precision the essence of these historic ships:
• full rigging with multiple masts
• complex rigging made by hand
• richly detailed hull with reliefs and architectural structures
• flags and decorative elements evoking classic navigation
Signed on the base as “B.H. Richard”, which adds collectible interest and suggests European production, probably Italian.
Material and technique:
• Silver (marked 800)
• Handcrafted with manual assembly
• Solid wood base
Measurements:
• Height: 16.5 cm
• Length: 15.5 cm
• Width: 5.5 cm
Weight:
• Total weight: 400 g
• Weight of the ship (silver only): 300 g
Condition:
Good overall condition with patina in line with age. Slight wear on ropes and sails, consistent with its artisanal character.
