Sculpture of a torso of Heracles in Carrara marble powder. A Roman 2nd-century reproduction that is housed in the National Archaeological Museum of Madrid. Heracles, Hercules in Rome, was a hero and demigod, son of Zeus and the mortal woman Alcmene. Heracles' most famous undertaking was the twelve labors, which were given to him by King Eurystheus as impossible tasks, which the demigod nonetheless managed to complete.
