Elegant Double Bed Ensemble in Precious White Cotton – Hand-Embroidered Openwork and Satin Stitch, Hand-Finished with a Scalloped Edge
Up for auction: a magnificent antique double bed linen set, a masterpiece of the Italian linen tradition. The ensemble is made of pure white cotton of excellent quality, featuring a tight, fresh, and very durable weave.
Details of the Embroidery
The standout feature of this lot is the extraordinary workmanship of the hem:
Full-Length Frill: The precious embroidery extends horizontally along the entire sheet strip, creating a continuous frieze of great opulence.
Craftsmanship: The floral decoration is entirely handmade using openwork (cutwork) and raised satin stitch. Large roses and classic scrolls follow each other in harmony, testifying to hours of patient manual work.
Scalloped Edge: Both the sheet and the pillowcases feature a hand-made festoon (scalloped) finish that follows the undulating profile of the design.

1 Top Sheet: Large dimensions of about 250 x 220 cm for a double bed, with a richly embroidered frill along the full width.
2 Coordinated Pillowcases: Generous dimensions of 84 x 59 cm, decorated with corner floral motifs and scalloped edges.
Condition
The set is in excellent vintage condition. The fabric is solid and well preserved and never used. As typical of vintage pieces kept in a blanket chest, there may be light storage marks (shading or small halos) easily removable with a normal wash or treatment for antique linens. It shows no tears or wear.
