Description from the seller

The table was originally fitted with a white marbled laminate (umakart) top, typical of institutional interiors of the mid-20th century. Due to the exceptional quality of the construction and the monumental scale of the piece, a complete professional restoration was undertaken.

The metal elements were entirely re-nickel-plated and subsequently chrome-plated.
The original laminate surface was carefully removed, and onto the original tabletop a new veneer was applied under high pressure.

The veneer was cut from subfossil (bog) oak, sourced from logs with an estimated age of 500 years or more. These logs were recovered between 1995 and 2000 from the riverbeds of the Morava River and the Bečva River during riverbank reinforcement works carried out by the Morava River Authority.

The construction of the new tabletop was extremely demanding, involving precise veneer composition, extensive sanding, and final finishing with hard oil, chosen for durability and practical everyday use.
