Description from the seller
We present the legendary Olivetti Lettera 22, designed by the prestigious industrial designer Marcello Nizzoli in 1949. This model revolutionized portability and aesthetics, becoming a milestone of post-war Italian design and a cult object on display at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York. A true timeless classic, adored by writers and journalists such as Pier Paolo Pasolini and Indro Montanelli.
Condition and Operation:
Mechanical: Functional, all keys respond and the end-of-line bell is active. Sometimes it’s hard to run. But it’s all working as you can see in the video. Just ask for the link.
Aesthetics: Excellent vintage condition (see photos). Original paint in a classic gray/beige tone very well preserved, showing only very slight normal signs of age that give it an authentic patina.
Keyboard: Rare Portuguese historical keyboard with the “HCESAR” layout, complete, with all keys clean and perfectly legible. It also bears the original vintage sticker from the iconic shop "Nova Lusa" (Lisbon/Porto) in the lower right corner, which confers added historical value and provenance.
Included accessories:
Comes with its original rigid carrying case with zipper and leather handle. The zipper is functional, ideal for protection and safe transport.
Brand: Olivetti
Model: Lettera 22
Year of Manufacture: 1950s / early 1960s
Designer: Marcello Nizzoli
Viewing / Personal Pickup: For total trust and transparency, the buyer is welcome to see the machine in person and/or pick up in person (Beja).
The lid is sometimes difficult to close; perhaps it is practical.
