Description from the seller

Deck of hand-painted playing cards from central Italy, dating to the early 1800s.
Rare cards, a true one-of-a-kind piece.
Appraised by several experts, and all of them gave roughly the same opinion.
One-of-a-kind piece, as was done in that period, made to order (the author cannot be named because they are unsigned, although they were almost certainly created by a skilled artist. When commissioned, and particularly by important families, authors often did not sign them).
The photos speak for themselves and highlight the hand of the artist.
Considering the horses, which are visible from the back (not seen in decks of this kind), they could evoke Napoleon's defeat and are probably later than 1815.
The Rivoltinatura technique is present (an Italian technique used to protect cards).
The cards appear as in the photos, i.e., without signs of wear and in excellent condition.
I have owned them for over 40 years.
