Sandstone Shiva Head - Khmer Style Head - 24 cm

Khmer Style Shiva head in porous sandstone. Following the Angkor Style. HIs face finely carved with a dimpled chin, full pursued lips, almond-shaped eyes and arched eyebrows. His hair arranged in neat rows rising to a domed topknot.

The stone sculpture Shiva head of the Khmer Empire. Shiva  is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. Known as “The Destroyer” within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity which also includes Brahma and Vishnu.

The Khmer Empire ruled the territory which based on modern Cambodia, but rather larger, from the 9th to the 13th century. The most celebrated examples are found in Angkor, which served as the seat of the empire.

Dimensions: 24,00 cm. 17,50 cm with custom made woodden base.
