Description from the seller
Napoleon III Era Cabinet/Bookcase in Louis XV Style, Lacquered and Painted
Important French-made cabinet/bookcase from the Napoleon III era, executed in the Louis XV style, finely lacquered and hand-painted. The unit stands out for its elegant tripartite structure with three front doors adorned with diamond-shaped metal grills and internal drapes in original gold-colored fabric, which confer refinement and visual depth to the whole.
The upper band is decorated with hand-painted floral motifs and tendrils, enriched with gilded details that frame the entire perimeter with shaped moldings. The lower panels feature central recesses with elaborate raised ornamental motifs, characterized by scrolls, stylized leaves, and small gilded decorative elements, executed with typically French taste.
Internally the piece is divided into three compartments: the two sides have shelves, while the central compartment, wider, offers great storage capacity. The inner doors retain the original drapes applied to the back of the grills, a detail that underscores the authenticity and charm of the period.
The base is supported by elegant feet in the Louis XV style, connected by shaped skirting boards and small central decorative elements. A piece of furniture with great charm and a commanding presence, ideal both as a bookcase and as a living-room or study cabinet for receptions.
