Description from the seller

Pair of Antique Ladder-Back Chairs – France – circa 1850

A refined pair of antique ladder-back chairs crafted in solid wood, dating to the mid-19th century, circa 1850. These elegant chairs feature a classic provincial French design with beautifully shaped cabriole front legs and hand-carved details on the apron.

The high backs are composed of three gently curved slats, supported by turned uprights, showcasing traditional craftsmanship of the period. The seats are hand-woven in natural rush, forming a classic envelope pattern, typical for rural French furniture of the 19th century.

The wood shows a warm, rich patina developed over time, with visible grain and age-related wear that enhances the authentic antique character. The structure is solid and stable, with minor signs of use consistent with age.

Such chairs were commonly produced in French provincial regions and are appreciated today for their timeless aesthetic and craftsmanship.

Condition:
Good overall condition with signs of age and use. Minor wear, surface marks and natural patina. The rush seats are intact and functional.

Material: Solid wood and natural rush
Origin: France
Period: circa 1850 (19th century)

A decorative and functional pair, suitable for both classic and contemporary interiors.
