Edwardian wall-mounted shaving mirror with shelf and storage compartment, constructed from dark-stained wood with brass fittings, measuring 50 cm high, 56.5 cm wide and 10 cm deep, in good condition with signs of aging.
Description from the seller
Edwardian Wall-Mounted Shaving Mirror with Shelf and Storage Compartment
England, circa 1900–1920.
Wall-mounted shaving or valet mirror produced in the Arts & Crafts / Edwardian tradition, combining practical daily use with restrained handcrafted design. Constructed from dark-stained solid oak or mahogany with softly curved side panels and integrated utility elements.
The upper shelf was designed for grooming accessories or personal items, while the lower open-front compartment originally served for combs, gloves, shaving tools, or correspondence. Brass floral fittings on the front panel provide a subtle decorative accent characteristic of early 20th century English domestic furniture.
The piece retains a warm aged patina and balanced proportions suitable for entrance halls, bathrooms, dressing rooms, or period interiors.
Condition is good overall with age-related surface wear, small marks, and minor traces of use consistent with its period. The mirror glass and wooden structure remain stable. Please carefully review all photos, as the item will be shipped exactly as shown.
An increasingly collectible form of functional Arts & Crafts interior furniture, appreciated for its compact architectural design and authentic early 20th century craftsmanship. Representative of the transition from late Victorian utility furniture toward simpler Edwardian domestic aesthetics.
