Description from the seller
Plia Foldable Chair
Designed by Giancarlo Piretti for Anonima Castelli, 1967.
An absolute icon of Italian design, the Plia is a folding chair characterized by the iconic structure in chromed steel wire and the seat and back in transparent plastic, here presented in the original warm amber tone.
Piretti's design is recognizable for the perfect balance between visual lightness, functionality, and technical innovation: the locking system allows an extremely compact fold, making the chair practical and easy to store, without sacrificing its strong formal identity.
The shell features the classic shape with a central circular inlay on the seat and rounded edges, distinctive elements of the model.
Materials
• Frame in chromed steel
• Seat and back in amber-colored transparent plastic
Era
• Late 1960s / subsequent production consistent with the original design
Condition
The metal frame is in generally good condition.
The plastic parts (seat and back) show some superficial marks, small scratches and slight signs of aging, visible especially when held up to backlight, consistent with use and the item’s age.
There are no visible breaks or cracks.
