Description from the seller
Original wooden lectern / music stand from around 1930, presumably originating from the Amsterdam Conservatorium or manufactured for institutional use in that period (Bach Hall).
The design shows strong characteristics of the Amsterdam School: expressive styling, powerful geometric lines. An exceptionally functional object with a sculptural appearance.
The stand is made of beech wood and plywood with four fins and original ball feet. The solid wood adjustable vertical support is fitted with original height adjustment via brass pin and a series of holes. The top is generously sized and excellently suitable as a music lectern, presentation object, menu stand, or decorative design piece.
Height 100-160 cm
Width 55 cm
Depth 50 cm
A special object that will appeal both to collectors of the Amsterdam School, Art Deco and Dutch design, as well as interior designers.
In good original condition with normal signs of use appropriate to its age. Nice patina. Constructively sturdy and usable. The top has become a bit skewed over the past 100 years (I have tried to document it in the photos).
