Description from the seller
In auction: a vintage Pentacon Praktica camera, a collectible model introduced in the early 1960s in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) by VEB Kamera- und Kinowerke Dresden. This specimen represents a milestone in the photographic technology of the era, being one of the first compact 35mm cameras equipped with an integrated motorized film advancement system. The body features a futuristic, minimalist industrial design, with metallic finishes paired to a knurled black coating. The front portion houses the fixed Meyer-Optik Görlitz Domiton 40mm f/3.5 lens, renowned for the optical performance typical of the East German school. Exposure control and focusing are handled in a simplified way via icons and symbols placed on the top cap, designed to make the shot immediate. The lot includes its original brown leather case with shoulder strap, showing the usual signs of wear but preserving its protective function and aesthetic charm. The item is sold in the aesthetic condition visible in the photos and has not been tested with film, making it an ideal piece both for display in a shop window and for lovers of modern design and rarities of photography from beyond the Iron Curtain.
