Mid-century modernist necklace with a tiger’s-eye cabochon, in 935 silver, a Scandinavian studio jewel for women, dating from the 1960s–70s, with a 62 cm chain and a total weight of 27.3 g, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Mid-century modernist design necklace - pendant with tiger’s eye – 935 silver – Scandinavian studio jewelry – 60s/70s
Gorgeous vintage modernist pendant with a linked chain, made in 935 silver and featuring an oval tiger’s eye cabochon in warm golden-brown tones. The design is characterized by a bold sculptural “sunburst” motif with hand-formed silver rays surrounding the stone, typical for Scandinavian and Brutalist studio jewelry from the 60s and 70s.
The pendant has a strong architectural look and combines minimalist Scandinavian form with artisanal craftsmanship. The natural tiger’s eye stone shows a beautiful silky luster and lively chatoyancy that subtly changes color depending on the light.
The higher silver content of 935 silver emphasizes the piece’s quality. The combination of the oxidized silver, geometric shapes, and the warm stone gives the whole piece a particularly stylish and timeless character.
The pendant is worn on an elegant modernist silver chain that perfectly suits the design and the period of the jewelry.
Probably Scandinavian studio work from the mid-century period. On the eyelet of the chain are the letters "SG". These are the maker marks (the initials of the silversmith or the design studio).
- The fineness mark (top/side): 925 (sterling silver). Location and year letters: The other vague marks on the sides are the year code
Condition:
Good vintage and pre-owned condition with normal light signs of use appropriate for age and wear. Beautiful natural patina on the silver.
Measurements:
Chain: L 62 cm
Pendant: L 4.5 cm x W 3.2 cm
Weight: 27.3 g
Carefully packaged and shipped with smart, insured, tracked delivery with tracking code.
