Description from the seller
"Fratino" Solid Hardwood Table - Italian Renaissance Style
Splendid coffee or refectory table, commonly referred to as "Fratino", crafted in solid wood with a rich dark patina that enhances its historic character and timeless elegance. This piece stands out for its structural solidity and the refinement of hand-carved details.
Main Features:
Top: Large rectangular with molded edges. Under the top edge runs a splendid carved frame with a scalloped/bacchetta pattern (petal or bacchus motif), typical of the late Renaissance style.
Base: Supported by two imposing vase/lyre-shaped legs, finely carved with acanthus leaf motifs and lateral volutes.
Central Beam: The legs are connected by a robust horizontal traverser, enriched at the center with a shell-carved medallion (scallop) and terminal scrolls, which ensures extreme stability and aesthetic prestige.
Feet: The table rests on dramatic lion’s paw feet (or ferini), a symbol of nobility and strength in period furniture.
Condition:
The piece is in overall excellent condition, with normal signs of aging that attest to its authenticity and enhance its charm (small natural wood cracks or light surface marks as visible in the photo). The structure is solid and ready to be placed in a prestigious living room, study, or dining room."
