Description from the seller
Beautiful Mercedes SL 600, R129 series. This was the absolute top model of the SL series with a fantastic V12 engine that allows you to cruise but can also summon the necessary sportiness at high speed. The car was imported from the US in 1993 and was part of a car collection. To this day only a few kilometers have been driven with it, and the car is mechanically in excellent condition.
The engine starts immediately and runs silky smooth right away. There is a slight oil leak from the oil pan. The gasket has been replaced but the result is not 100%. It is advisable to replace the pan itself.
The engine is linked to a 4-speed automatic transmission that shifts well. The brakes work excellently and the car is equipped with 18-inch AMG wheels, the rear tires were replaced in 2024. The suspension is still very good and there has never been welding or bodywork performed on the car.
In 2024 the car received a service, oil and filters changed and the car was fitted with a new starting battery.
The body is largely still beautiful, the paint on the upper body is still good after 33 years, but the plastic under panels and the right spoiler are lightly damaged in several places. The soft top is still in good condition, the roof operation hydraulics were completely replaced in 2024 (cost €4500) and work excellently.
The interior is largely still good, the leather upholstery of the seats and door panels are virtually undamaged. The air conditioning needs to be recharged but otherwise there are no electrical faults, all indicator lights work. The driver's seat has a faulty electrical adjustment. The car is equipped with a JVC CD changer. The dash top and the center tunnel have not been sun-damaged. The car is also equipped with an electrically operated wind deflector.
The car is located in Delft, Netherlands and can be picked up here.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
