Handmade decorative vase by Martina Corti from Italy (Lombardy), ceramic argilla with kitsugi decor, approx. 18 cm high and 18 cm in diameter, dating from 2020 or later and in new condition.
Description from the seller
Height: 18 cm (Diameter: 20 cm)
Being entirely handcrafted, there may be slight variations in size and color compared to the photos and among different pieces in the same series.
This vase has been shaped and turned by hand and subsequently fired using the evocative pit firing technique (firing in a pit). This technique is characterized by its spectacular and unpredictable aesthetic, capable of imparting unique and non-replicable nuances, decorations, and color effects to each piece.
The fascinating shading and flames on the body of the vase are due to the direct contact of the clay with the fumes, embers, and the alchemy of fire in low-oxygen conditions.
The piece followed a long and meticulous processing cycle: it underwent an initial bisque firing in a neutral atmosphere for about nine hours at 1020°C. Subsequently, the pit firing at 880°C.
The item is completely safe and contains no toxic or dangerous substances. This vase is intended for decorative use only: due to the porosity typical of this firing technique, it is recommended not to fill it with water. For cleaning, only use a dry cloth.
Remember: this is not factory-made, mass-produced ceramic; every vase has its own individual soul. All pieces are entirely hand-formed, turned, and finished in my studio in Lecco, Italy.
