Description from the seller
Attention: due to customs regulations we can only ship inside the European Union. Please ensure you have a valid EU shipping address before placing a bid.
Very rare Viking amulet made of bone, decorated with circle-dots, complete with a silver suspension ring. The amulet will be delivered with a leather jewellery cord, perfect for modern wear or to put on display.
Bone amulet: ± 31 mm
Condition: good and solid condition, complete with silver suspension ring. Delivered with leather jewellery cord. Signs of wear consistent with age and use. See images.
Certificate of Authenticity: available upon request (pdf-format).
→ Bone amulets were worn in the Viking world as personal ornaments and objects of symbolic meaning. The pierced suspension hole allowed the piece to be carried on a cord or ring, while the simple incised decoration may have given the amulet an individual or protective character. Such small personal objects offer an intimate glimpse into everyday belief, adornment and identity in the Viking Age.
