Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
Brutalist primitive solid wood block stool carved from a single block with four thick tapered legs, dating to 1960–1970 in Europe, in good used condition with natural aging and minor blemishes; dimensions 40 cm high, 46 cm wide, 30 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Brutalist Primitive Solid Wood Block Stool
Europe, mid-20th century
Monolithic handcrafted stool carved from a substantial solid wood block with four thick tapered legs. The piece strongly reflects Brutalist and primitive design principles through its raw geometry, visible tool marks, deep natural cracking, knots, and uncompromising material presence.
The untreated character of the timber has been intentionally preserved, allowing the organic grain movement, age splits, and natural imperfections of the wood to define the visual identity of the object. The large natural cavity and textured surface create a sculptural appearance closely associated with contemporary Brutalist, Wabi-Sabi, and organic interior aesthetics.
Originally conceived as a functional utility or milking stool, today it operates equally as a collectible interior object, side stool, pedestal, or sculptural accent piece.
Condition remains structurally sound with authentic age-related wear and natural wood movement throughout. One leg shows slight looseness without affecting overall stability. Natural cracks, shrinkage marks, surface wear, and irregularities are consistent with solid aged timber construction. Please examine all photos carefully, as the item will be shipped exactly as shown.
Pieces of this nature are increasingly sought after in the international design market, particularly within Brutalist and organic modern interiors where strong natural material expression and handcrafted construction are highly valued.
