AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Large Bohemian Art Glass Vase – Josef Hospodka for Chribska Sklarna – ca. 1960s/1970s

Description
A splendid, heavy and monumental mid-century art glass vase, designed by the renowned glass designer Josef Hospodka for the Czechoslovak glassworks Chribska Sklarna (Bohemia) in the 1960s or 1970s.

This iconic model is known for its expressive, organic and undulating folds (often referred to as 'Fazzoletto' or star-style). The vase is executed in a beautiful, deep amethyst-purple color that elegantly fans upward into the lush points. The colored glass is encased in a thick, solid layer of crystal-clear glass, creating fantastic dynamism and light play.

With a height of 25 cm and a weight of just over 2 kilograms, this is a very robust and characterful 'statement piece' that fits perfectly in a mid-century modern, vintage, or Hollywood Regency interior.

Condition report:
In very good, clear vintage condition. The glass is completely free of limescale and internal cloudiness. The underside shows normal, light scuffing/scratches in keeping with age. There is a tiny 'flea bite' spot/roughness on the extreme outer edge of the base (barely noticeable in display; see detail photo)
