Description from the seller
Elegant Samovar / Teapot with Spirit Alcohol Burner – Antique Style
Splendid and refined tea service consisting of a tilting teapot (or kettle) on a tripod with an integrated spirit burner. The piece stands out for its elegant lines and rich counter-engraved work, perfect as a collectible, vintage decorative item, or for a tea service from a bygone era.
Teapot/Kettle: Bulbous body decorated on the lower part with dense fluting (sunken grooves) that beautifully catches the light. The spout features elegant geometric vein-like markings at the base.
Handle and Knob: The top handle and the knob of the lid are fitted with inserts in black insulating material (ebonized wood or bakelite), designed to pour hot water safely without scalding.
Tripod Support: The teapot is hinged to a base coordinated with fluted motifs, supported by three elegant contoured legs ending in lion’s paw feet (or talons).
Tilting Mechanism: The teapot is fixed to the base by a pin with a removable key, allowing to tilt the kettle to pour water without having to lift it completely from the heat source.
Burner: Complete with an original internal alcohol (spirits) burner, equipped with a wick and a numbered shut-off/cover cap ("19").
Stamping and Material
On the base of the kettle the manufacturing marks are clearly visible:
EPNS (Electroplated Nickel Silver): Indicates the object is made of high-quality nickel silver plating (alpacca) with a robust bright and durable silver plating.
Manufacturer’s Mark: Above the EPNS inscription is the maker’s punch (partially worn by time, typical of British/European silverware manufacturing from the late 19th / early 20th century).
Condition of the Item
Overall condition: Excellent aesthetic and preservational state.
The silver shows its natural patina of time, which lends charm and authenticity to the piece (it can be polished to a mirror finish at the buyer’s discretion).
Mechanisms, hinges and burner are complete, intact and fully functional.
Note for the buyer: A piece with a strong visual impact, ideal for enriching a display case, a sideboard, or to impress guests during afternoon tea.
