Description from the seller
Océanic Surcouf collection radio, Paris 1956.
Regarded as one of the most emblematic and distinctive French radios produced in the 1950s, it stands out for a design rich in details that make it unmistakable.
The auction offered example is the rare version with the light wood cabinet and presents itself in excellent preservation conditions.
Six valves, four wavebands (PO-GO-OC-BE) and a phono input.
It features tone and volume controls, a keyboard-band selector, tuning search, and an antenna orienter (frame).
The cabinet retains its original finish in excellent condition, with only a few small, normal signs of wear and aging compatible with the age of the appliance; the front fabric is in excellent condition.
The electronic section has been recently serviced, with replacement of some defective capacitors. The magic eye EM81, now exhausted, has been replaced with a new original spare.
The radio powers on and, when used in a favorable area, can receive programs from states where transmissions on the old PO-GO-OC bands are still active. The best reception occurs after sunset, when the propagation of electromagnetic waves is more favorable.
Notes:
Because this is a radio from 1956, it is auctioned strictly as a collectible item, with no guarantee.
The numerous photographs are an integral part of the description.
The radio will be packed with the utmost care and shipping will be insured.
