AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Industrial sector: Bohemian manufacture
Material and technique: Opalescent glass (lattimo or opaline) in a cerulean blue, encased, blown and finished by hand; decoration with polychrome enamels and 24k gold leaf
Object: Bonbon stand
Period: Late 19th – early 20th century
Dimensions: Overall height: 10 cm; Cup diameter: 12 cm

Description of the work
Centerpiece dessert stand in opalescent glass of an intense sky-blue tone. The object is structured in two distinct sections joined hot: a deep upper cup and a molded baluster stem that opens onto a flat circular base, slightly stepped down.

The cup is distinguished by its irregular, hot-bent wide lobed rim that creates an undulating and sinuous profile, entirely finished with a dense gilding in gold leaf. Along the rim of the cup, corresponding to the outward flares, runs a raised geometric decoration composed of oval reserves enameled in optical white. The inner bottom of the basin hosts a refined central rosette radiating motif, finely outlined in white enamel, gold and iron-red, reminiscent of mandala or mirror decorations of Neo-Renaissance derivation. A thin gilded thread finishes symmetrically the perimeter of the supporting foot.
