Description from the seller
Luigi Filippo Console in Lombard Walnut – Mid-19th Century
This magnificent console represents an excellent testimony of the Luigi Filippo style, produced in Lombardy around the middle of the XIX century. The style, which spread during the reign of Louis-Philippe I of France, is distinguished by a return to softer, more sinuous lines compared to the previous Neoclassicism, while maintaining a solidity and formal dignity that are perfect for furnishing noble residences and the high bourgeoisie of the era.
The use of Lombard walnut is evident in the dense grain and the warm, deep tone of the wood, typical of North Italian cabinetmaking. The piece preserves its splendid original patina, emphasizing its authenticity and historical character.
This console is a piece of great antiquarian importance, perfect for decorating an entrance hall for representation, a spacious corridor, or a salon, acting as a true wooden sculpture capable of drawing attention.
