The Ricoh FF-1 is an ultra-compact 35mm full-frame film camera introduced in 1978. The camera is known for its foldable lens with a tilting cap (also known as a "tekenbrug" design), which is strongly inspired by the iconic Minox 35 series. It is an excellent, unobtrusive pocket camera for street and travel photography.
Key specifications
Lens: Fixed Color Rikenon 35mm f/2.8 (4 elements in 3 groups), a very sharp Tessar-type lens.
Metering: Fully automatic program-controlled exposure. The diaphragm ring on the lens is only intended for flash use.
Shutter: Electronically controlled shutter from 2 seconds to 1/500 second.
Focus: Zone focus (rangefinder-free). You estimate the distance to the subject manually (from 0.9 meters to infinity).
ISO range: Manually adjustable from 25 to 400 ISO.
Power: Runs on two LR44 or SR44 batteries. Note: the camera does absolutely nothing if the batteries are dead or missing.
Weight & size: Weighs only 225 grams and measures about 107 x 65 x 36 mm.
Very compact: Fits easily in a jacket or trouser pocket.
Excellent lens: The Rikenon f/2.8 delivers sharp, high-contrast images.
Ruggeder than Minox: Has a finer metal/plastic mix and a classic latch.
The Ricoh FF-1 series was produced from December 1978 to the early 1980s.
