Description from the seller
TITLE: MAGNIFICENT AND MONUMENTAL VENEZIAN TRUMEAU IN ROOTWOOD – HEIGHT 260 CM
DESCRIPTION:
A masterpiece of elegance and visual impact for exclusive interiors.
Are you looking for a unique piece of furniture, capable of catching the eye and radically transforming the atmosphere of a salon, a study, or an important library? This extraordinary Trumeau (ribalta with upper display) in double body is the perfect answer.
Made in the mid-20th century by Italian master cabinetmakers in full Barocchetto Veneziano / Louis XV style, the piece has no signatures or inscriptions, presenting itself as a work of high furniture craftsmanship. With its 260 cm height, it stands as a monumental piece with superb scenographic impact, ideal for highlighting rooms with high ceilings.
Strengths and Details of Excellence:
Splendid Rootwood Inlay: The entire outer surface is clad in precious rootwood (walnut/olive) arranged in geometric reserves and herringbone patterns. The spectacular natural grain creates a play of warm, vivid, luxurious tones.
Elegant, Curved Lines: The cabinet features a complex shaped and bombé construction, visible on the front and the sides. Nothing is square; every line follows the sinuous contours typical of eighteenth-century splendor.
Coordinated Premium Upholstery: The interior of the upper display and the bottom of the main drawers are elegantly lined with a refined glossy light damask fabric, perfect for highlighting the contents.
Three Pieces in One (Maximum Functionality):
1 The Lower Body: A spacious, recaused chest with 3 large drawers featuring magnificent bronze handles and ornate feather-motif fittings.
2 The Central Ribalta: The lowering section opens to reveal a splendid hidden cupboard (stipo) with 4 rootwood document drawers and open compartments, perfect as a secretaire or writing corner.
3 The Upper Display: A majestic two-door vitrine with shaped glass panels.
Author’s Crest: The piece is crowned at the top by a lavish carved cornice with volutes that centrally encases a small original shaped mirror.
Security: The doors, drawers, and display are equipped for lockable closing with integrated locks.
Monumental Dimensions:
Maximum height: 260 cm
Maximum width: 130 cm
Depth (closed): 62 cm
Condition:
The piece is in excellent vintage condition overall. It is structurally sound, solid, and ready to be placed in a home. All movable elements (doors, drawers, lower display) slide and operate perfectly. Only very slight and normal signs of time on the surface testify to its history and authenticity from the mid-1900s (note a slight and natural era crack on the paneling of the cornice, beneath the upper small mirror, which in no way compromises aesthetics or stability). Clean internal fabric, intact glass and mirrors. The back photos show the wood’s solidity and health.
NOTE FOR TRANSPORT: To facilitate moving, relocation, and delivery, the piece is divisible into two separate bodies (the base chest and the display cabinet detach easily).
Shipping / Pickup Info:
Given the monumentality and value of the piece, in-person pickup in Milan province is offered exclusively. The seller guarantees maximum availability and collaboration if the buyer prefers to use their own specialist moving company or a trusted private courier.
