Antique solid wood cassapanca from Italy, dating to about 1850–1900, with a 130 cm wide, 50 cm deep and 50 cm high profile, dark brown finish and natural craquelé patina, weight about 20 kg, in good condition with signs of age and spots, keyhole plate present.
Description from the seller
We are offering at auction a suggestive antique solid wood chest, dating presumably to the late 19th century or early 20th century.
The piece stands out for its solid architectural line, softened by a panelled front with molded frames and by sides with an elegant molded shelf-like profile at the base. The exterior finish, in a deep, dark shade, features a beautiful, natural patina of time, characterized by a charming craquelure effect (cracking of the varnish) that certifies its authenticity and historicity.
Upon opening the heavy lid, supported by robust period metal hinges, a wide storage cavity is revealed where one can admire the light, natural grain of the original wood, creating a pleasant chromatic contrast with the exterior. The key escutcheon is present (please specify whether the key is included or missing).
It is an extremely versatile piece of furniture, perfect for adding a touch of warmth and character to an entryway, placed at the foot of a bed as a blanket chest, or used as a small table/ storage in a living area.
